When searching for mineral pigments, it's essential to be aware of certain factors that can impact the quality and performance of the product. Here are some key considerations to keep in mind:
1. Purity
One of the most critical aspects to consider when choosing mineral pigments is their purity. High-quality pigments should be free from contaminants and impurities, ensuring vibrant and consistent color results. That's why I worked very hard at F.A.C.E to make sure that our mineral supplier also took it very seriously. We only use mineral pigments of the highest quality without fillers and toxins, made from Micronized Minerals only.
2. Particle Size
The particle size of mineral pigments can significantly affect their performance. Finely milled pigments tend to provide better coverage and adherence to the skin, resulting in a more professional finish.
3. Lightfastness/ oxidize
Lightfastness refers to the pigment's ability to resist fading or changing color when exposed to light. Oxidize is also a similar process where the colors will change when exposed to the air. Opt for mineral pigments with excellent lightfastness to ensure long-lasting and fade-resistant results.
4. Color Range
Consider the range of colors available in the mineral pigment line. A diverse color range allows for more creativity and versatility in your projects, enabling you to achieve a wide variety of looks.
5. Skin Compatibility
If you are using mineral pigments for cosmetic purposes, it's crucial to ensure that they are safe for use on the skin. Look for pigments that are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and suitable for sensitive skin.
6. Application Method
Some mineral pigments are designed for specific application methods, such as dry or wet application. Consider how you plan to use the pigments and choose a product that aligns with your preferred application technique.
By keeping these key considerations in mind, you can make informed decisions when selecting mineral pigments for your projects. Whether you are a professional artist or a DIY enthusiast, choosing high-quality pigments will enhance the outcome of your creative endeavors.
